Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) affects millions. I have been affected with GAD for over 30 years now, starting when I was a child. Honestly, my first instinct is to fight it. But time and again I’ve found fighting it compounds the stress.

Remember in Disney’s Fantasia, the adaptation of the German poem, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,

when Mickey Mouse splits an uncontrollable broom with an axe and watches in horror as it multiplies?

I challenge myself instead to COPE with it.  LIVING with it is much more realistic than RIDDING yourself of it. Easier said than done, right?

My objective with this site is to share my experiences with GAD and the resources that help me cope. I find it therapeutic to look outside myself – to music, movies and things in the world around me that are examples of other people coping.

Because if someone else is talking about it, then I know I’m not alone.
